Don’t apply if you’re not qualified

Let me tell you more about this problem

A lot of developers - in desperation, in hope, in optimism, in deceit, in whatever frame of mind they have when they apply:

Apply for roles they are not at all qualified for

This is also because there are Easy Apply buttons on Linkedin and Job Boards

This is also because there are software solutions that will send your CV out enmass.

Thinking that you are the only one that gets ghosted is unrealistic - everyone gets ghosted - I get ghosted all the time - by people literally that applied for something lol

We are living in crazy ass times - keep your head and wits about you

And network - real life connections, conversations and relationships

INTERVIEW ADVICE

Know Thyself

  1. Tell me about a time you made yourself proud

This one is very hard to answer, well for me personally - it gets harder the more I achieve, or try to achieve

But if you have a great story here, you can bring it into your interview and it will make you stand out

  1. Tell me about why you became X (developer, analyst, architect, etc)

I can still remember a guy from 5 years ago, he became a developer because he hacked into GTA and made mods to the game - awesome story, will never forget him

  1. Tell me about when you disagreed with your team

Show how you communicate disagreements and negotiate differences of opinion - don’t just say, we agreed to disagree and that’s why I quit and am looking for work

A lot of people leave companies because they disagree with them, that’s perfectly normal, whats not normal is not being able to have disagreements calmly

  1. Tell me about past projects

Here’s where you can mention core features you built or great milestones you’re responsible for or helped achieve
